My Professional Development At East Central University

The last four years of my life have been a personal challenge for me because I have been living in foreign country. During these time, I had to adjust and learn a new culture by improving my communication skills and understanding the way that people react to specific situations. Moreover, while working on my professional development at East Central University, I have had to overcome the difficulties of being an international student. Some people (sometimes including myself) would think of these difficulties as a disadvantage; however, I consider these complications of being international as a challenge. Therefore, these challenges make me work harder than anybody else, because I like to prove myself to people with my actions, work ethics, and show that I am as proficient and capacitated as any other student. As I mentioned before, the main challenge that I had to overcome was the communication which it represent a vital skill on my profession. As an athletic training student, I was required to perform daily communicate with athletes, coaches and other athletic training personnel about athletes injuries and other problems related with the well-being of the patient. Sophocles’ tragedy Oedipus Rex exemplifies the psychological conflicts that arise as an individual undergoes a drastic realization of character, ultimately leading him on a search to recover his true identity, and along the way bringing to light the darkest demons of his past. The play unfolds through a calamitous tone, which foreshadows the impending downfall of the ruler of Thebes, Oedipus, and the consequences that this downfall will bring to him and all of those around him. The calamitous tone deepens through the regal imagery of the play, in which the main character, Oedipus, lives his life along the ideals of a king, thus fraying his once trustworthy vision by his constant need for control and power. The calamitous tone and regal imagery conjure up a restive mood, which belies melodramatic atmosphere of the play as a whole. As a modern audience we experience the dramatic irony that a play like this brings forward, and we struggle to watch these tragic events unfold b efore us. How can this fourth grader be expected to attend college, and graduate with the other 25% of deaf people who do so? The answer is that they cannot! If the oralism approach is working today then why is the literacy rate so low, why is deaf unemployment rate so high, and why is the graduation rate so low? If the deaf were excelling then these crazy numbers wouldn’t be an issue, but the statistics do not lie. Oralism is not working for the deaf community, reform to the education system and oralistic approach need to be addressed. How many parents of deaf children know American Sign Language? The answer is that this child will not succeed in todays’ world, and apparently a world that does not make room for a culture trying to live in it. Can deaf people participate competitively in sports? I have always played sports and have played against Deaf people before. I wonder if there are national sporting games for the deaf? Yes, The Deaflympics are a worldwide Olympics event for deaf persons who choose to participate. The Deaflympics are held every 4 years and the recent one was held in Salt Lake City, Utah. During the previous Deaflympics over 4,000 individuals competed from 77 countries. The Deaflympics continues to grow and even today a few deaf athletes have participated in the Olympics to earn medals. And I will tell you that an Exhibition is defined by a public display of work (in this case art) but in this particular exhibition what was displayed was all but empty canvases or artwork, which one could very well initially presume to be not art at all. I’m talking about invisible art here, art that you cannot see, feel or sense in general.
